whitefeathers
about
Whitefeathers take Stooges size guitar riffs, blend with rolling piano hooks and singalong choruses to make a noise that sits somewhere between the atmospheric alt-rock of Afghan Whigs and the combustible indie of Wolf Alice. On stage, this is brought to life by singer Lucy Tauber’s ability to shift gears between heartfelt emotional intensity and raw energy. She holds it all together as the dual guitars and piano draw on a wide range of influences that flow through punkish abandon, ramshackle soul and sawtooth edged pop. With impeccable timing their first show took place on Valentines Day 2020. A week later Europe locked down and it was time to unplug, put the kettle on and wait. The band emerged from hibernation with a fresh line up and began releasing music in 2023. Punk rock legend Mike Watt (Minutemen/fIREHOSE) stepped in to lend a hand, providing his signature style to the first single, the somewhat downbeat offering ‘As always’. More singles followed before the band headed back to the studio in 2024 to put together an album's worth of material.
